Stay connected above and below the surface with the Garmin Descent S1 Diver Communication Buoy. Designed to work with the Garmin dive ecosystem, this compact and rugged buoy uses SubWave™ sonar networking to let topside crew monitor and communicate with divers using compatible dive computers paired with Descent™ T2 transceivers. Surface teams can monitor tank pressures, depth and diver distance while networked divers can see their distance and direction back to the buoy.

With support for up to eight divers, two-way preset messaging, approximate diver location tracking, post-dive underwater heatmaps and up to 15 hours of battery life, Descent S1 provides an additional layer of awareness and communication for group diving. Remote Diver Monitoring

Surface crew can monitor compatible networked divers using dive computers paired with Descent T2 transceivers. Descent S1 provides information such as tank pressure, depth and diver distance, while automatic alerts can help notify topside crew when tank or depth conditions require attention.

Two-Way Messaging

Use the Garmin Dive™ smartphone app to exchange preset messages with networked divers below the surface. Topside crew can communicate important information to divers, while the Descent S1 also helps extend the range of diver-to-diver messaging within the compatible SubWave network.

Diver Location Tracking

Monitor the approximate range to each diver connected to the SubWave sonar network, with tracking support up to 100 meters from the Descent S1 buoy. This provides topside crew with greater awareness of where networked divers are exploring.

Find My Buoy

Networked divers can view their distance and direction back to the Descent S1 buoy, giving them a useful return-to-base reference and helping improve situational awareness during the dive.

Post-Dive Review

After surfacing, divers can review underwater heatmaps in the Garmin Dive smartphone app. These heatmaps provide an approximate visual representation of where networked divers explored during their dive.
